Dare of the Week: Be Somebody (Else)

dare-of-the-weekIf your weekend workouts feel especially tough, try this trick: Imagine that you’re your favorite pro athlete. Run like they do, swim like they do, and bike like they do.

Pick something about their form to copy and see if yours doesn’t start getting better, too. Even better, copy their “effort” — see how they’re keeping their shoulders relaxed, or just gliding through the pool? Channel that.

For me, it’s a lot easier to complete a run workout if I do it as Paula Radcliffe than it is if I do it as me. Yep, it’s a head game, but you’ll be surprised at what it can do for your body, too.

  1. Love it. On my longer and more painful hauls I imagine myself as ther unexpected third party “coming from out of nowhere!” in the infamous “Iron War” between Dave Scott and Mark Allen and this doesn’t allow me to drop the pace any…and for the record, I always kick their asses. đŸ™‚
