Some swimming pools are just cooler than others. Witness my friend’s pool at the Porchester Centre in London: Roomy, skylit(!), and super friendly to serious swimmers. The vibe: Part crumbling-around-the-edges boarding school, part bath house, and part fancy spa. Even cooler: it’s actually a community center, not an indie club. (Oh, and it’s not freezing cold, either.)
